Interessou-me trabalhar com mulheres, artistas e não-artistas, e utilizar o processo de criação como uma possível plataforma de ativismo feminista – interessou-me realmente fazer um espetáculo-manifesto. Nesse sentido, MINA é um projeto que se envolve assumidamente em questões feministas: é um projecto com e sobre mulheres que viveram épocas diferentes, muitas ou quase todas foram confrontadas com conflitos de desigualdade e violência de género específicos de cada época, algumas revolucionaram e continuam a revolucionar o mundo e muitas delas foram violentamente suprimidas da história. Elas não estarão presentes agora, mas as suas presenças fantasmáticas sim, através do seu pensamento, dos seus percursos de vida, profissionais e artísticos que são absorvidos no estudo deste processo.

I was interested in working with women, artists and non-artists, and making use of the creation process as a possible platform for feminist activism – I was interested in a manifest-show. In that sense, MINA is a project that admittedly evolves through feminist issues: it’s a project with and about women who’ve lived through different eras, many, if not all, have been confronted with conflicts of inequality and gender specific violence of each era, some have revolutionised and continue to revolutionise the world while many of them have been violently suppressed from history. These women are not present here today, yet their spectral presence is, through their thoughts, the professional and artistic paths they took, it’s all been absorbed in the study of this process.
