São muitos os motivos que levam a que a luta pela a igualdade de género seja pertinente, necessária e urgente. É certo que em 2020 a definição de género é já muito mais ampla do que apenas a binariedade entre feminino e masculino. No entanto, para o efeito de reflexão sobre o espetáculo ISHÁ – A Mulher Que… e sobre a nossa experiência enquanto criadoras, que se identificam como mulheres cisgénero, é justamente nesse binómio que nos vamos focar. Não queremos, contudo, deixar de manifestar o nosso respeito por todas as pessoas que se identifiquem com outros géneros e sabemos que se a luta pela representatividade e igualdade de mulheres cisgénero no teatro é enorme, a luta daquelxs que estão fora do binómio deverá ser muito maior.

Many are the reasons that make the struggle for gender equality pertinente, necessary and urgent. It is certain that, in 2020, the definition of gender is much broader than binary masculine and feminine. Although, reflecting on the play ISHÁ – A Mulher Que… and based on our experience as creators who identify as cisgender women, that is the binomial we chose to focus on. In spite of that, we can not go unheard when it come to our respect for all those who identify with other genders and we are aware that if the struggle fro representation and equality of cisgender women in theatre is huge, the struggle of those who fit out of the binomial must be even bigger.
